Can nerd chic, and high fashion go hand in hand? If her red carpet look at the premiere of new movie, Rio, is any indication, then actress Anne Hathaway definitely thinks so. Donning a purple Gucci Spring 2011 dress, with matching Gucci ‘Malika’ platform sandals, Anne let her geek flag fly high by adding a pair of tortoise shell glasses to her outfit.
Anne’s look is ripped directly from the runway, and that’s not a bad thing, because it works as is. Her soft ponytail and minimal makeup (and of course those glasses) add personal touches to the ensemble, but it still retains its Gucci edge. Her royal purple beaded dress features fringe detailing at the shoulders, a trend that’s been slowly creeping back into celebrity wardrobes.
A few seasons ago fringe was a popular detail in celebrity footwear, and now it’s being seen in everything from dresses, to tops. Though none of these pieces come close to capturing the intricate detailing and craftsmanship of the original Gucci dress, below you’ll find a few options on how to add a similar fringe into your spring wardrobe.
